What we work on
Articulation and phonological disorders
For children who are hard to understand, or who get stuck on particular sounds. The work targets those sounds directly so your child can be understood at school and with friends. Clear speech changes how a child sees themselves as a talker, and that matters as much as the sounds do.
Language delays and disorders
Expressive language is how your child communicates what they want, need, think, or feel using words, sounds, or gestures. Receptive language is what they understand. Both are needed for school and for friendships, and gaps get harder to close the longer they are left. This is the broadest area we work in and where most school-age families start.
Fluency and stuttering
Practical strategies and confidence, so your child can say what they want to say without frustration or avoidance. The goal is not a cure narrative. It is a child who talks freely.
AAC support
For children who need an alternative or augmentative communication system to access language fully. Every child deserves a way to communicate, and a device or system is often a bridge to language rather than a replacement for it.
Early intervention and school readiness
The earliest years are the most powerful ones for this work. Children who arrive at school with the communication foundation in place start ready instead of already catching up. If your child is approaching three and aging out of Texas ECI or Georgia's Babies Can't Wait, this is the moment to talk.
What a session actually looks like
Not a child staring at a screen doing worksheets. For younger children, therapy is play, using toys and books your child already likes, and a good deal of the session is coaching you in real time while you play together.
For older children it is more structured, with targeted practice on specific goals, but it still moves at your child's pace rather than through a lesson plan written for someone else.
Session length is set by what your child needs. Because TimeWise is direct pay, nobody outside this practice gets to decide that.
The homework model
This is the part that makes the difference, and it is the thing families tell us they seldom get elsewhere.
Every client goes home with structured assignments. Not a vague suggestion to practice, but a specific, manageable plan for the week. Most of your child's communication learning happens in the hours between sessions, so the sessions are designed to make those hours count.
A few minutes a day beats a long session once a week. Families who do the home practice usually see progress more quickly.
Parent support consulting
Most speech therapists do not offer this. It is one of the reasons families choose TimeWise.
- Parent coaching trains you to use the same techniques at home, so progress does not stall between appointments and you feel capable rather than dependent on the next session
- Home assignment guidance gives you a clear daily plan, so you are never guessing about whether you are doing the right thing
- Progress tracking and strategy check-ins keep you informed as your child moves through milestones, so you can see the work paying off rather than taking it on faith
What progress looks like
You are part of the goal-setting process. Together, we identify specific, meaningful communication goals for your child and track progress over time. You will receive ongoing updates so you always know what your child is working on, what they can do now, and what they are ready to learn next.
The ultimate goal of speech therapy is better communication and greater independence for your child, not therapy forever. As your child meets their goals and communicates more effectively, we will work toward discharge from speech therapy.
How to get started
Book a free 15-minute call. You talk, mostly. By the end you will know whether this looks like something speech therapy helps with and whether TimeWise is the right practice for it. Sometimes the answer is no, and you will be told that.
